For 125 years, the Barcelona Zoo has been a window on nature, a learning tool for families, school groups, students and researchers. A center dedicated to the education and conservation of fauna that will allow you to enjoy a unique option of scientific culture and leisure in the heart of Barcelona. We wait for you In the Zoo there are more than 2,000 animals of more than 300 different species, as well as more than 1,300 trees, shrubs, plants and flowers of some 320 botanical species. The main mission of the Barcelona Zoo is to intervene actively in conservation, scientific research and the dissemination of wildlife and their natural habitats. This task, which is developed in collaboration with other zoos, universities and research centers, follows the guidelines and strategies established by the research committees of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums ( EAZA).
